Liverpool vs. Watford: Match Preview

Liverpool

After losing to Manchester United in the previous round of the Premier League, Liverpool have dropped a few spots. They’re currently on the fourth spot on the table, behind Tottenham, Manchester United, and of course, Manchester City. To stay in the competition for the 2nd place, they need to get right back on the winning track.

The good news for the Reds is that they definitely have the manpower to take all three points on Saturday. All of their key men are fit and ready for the game, including Mohamed Salah, who is in the competition for the top Premier League scorer. He currently has 24 goals to his name, the same number as Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who’s out injured and probably will remain sidelined for a few weeks.

Another thing that’s making the Reds optimistic ahead of this duel is the fact that their players have always been great when playing home matches. They’re without a defeat at the Anfield this season, with 9 wins in 15 matches.

Watford

The first time they played against Liverpool at the Anfield, Watford won all three points. However, that was a long time ago, back in 1999. Since then, they lost each of their duels with the Reds in Liverpool. But this team hasn’t been bad only against Liverpool, their away form has been poor regardless of the opponent.

In fact, Watford have lost 8 out of previous 9 matches, counting all competitions. They managed to score only twice in those 9 games and if it weren’t for their impressive home form, they would be much lower on the table. Tight now, Watford are on a highly reputable 10th place on the table.

Bad news for Watford is that they have a number of injury concerns. Over a dozen players are either injured or struggling with match fitness. This means that Watford manager will not find it easy to pick the starting eleven.
